For What It’s Worth

Breaking Even is a Pop-Punk band from Staten Island, NY. A mainstay of Staten Island’s local music scene, the band is comprised of members LJ Goity, James Bucchieri, Eric Bucchieri, Justin Alpert, and Andrew Ruggiero. Over years of knowing the band, I’ve done several design projects for them, including this cover art.

With cover art often being a listener’s first impression of an artist, it is important that an album artwork design communicate the vibe of an album or track. For Breaking Even’s single “For What It’s Worth”, I used a darker image and increased the presence of shadows. This brings to the front the questioning present in the track’s lyrics, a sense of uncertainty and foreboding portrayed by the dark alleyway.
