Swimming: A whole new way to browse the web!
An Apple tagline, probably
Sometimes surfing the web isn’t enough. Sometimes you want to let the infinite information of the internet wash over you, like you’re swimming in it. Such was the idea behind this piece, which I created for my college Design 365 assignment.
I started with two separate creative commons images: an iPhone 8 on a table, and a child swimming in a pool. First, I made a selection in the shape of the iPhone’s screen, applying it as a mask to the pool image so only the water was visible. On a duplicate of the pool layer, I used the Select Subject tool to select the kid. While doing this, I was also sure to include the water around him that was splashing. When placed in the image of the iPhone, this gives the effect of water splashing outside the phone. Lastly, I used a field blur effect on the water’s surface, making the perspective on the water consistent with the image of the iPhone, blur increasing with distance from the camera.
