If you’re anything like me, you grew up playing with toys like Tech Decks, using household objects as makeshift skateparks. Running with that idea, I decided to put a skater in a bowl, not empty, but filled with cereal!
This is a composite of two source images from Unsplash. I was able to get the skater out of his source image and placed him into the bowl, an easy fit due to the matching curvature. Starting out, the bowl had a floral pattern that I wanted to remove. To do so, I clone stamped white areas of the bowl and painted over the floral. To make the effect consistent to the curve of the bowl, I maintained the pattern of changing light values to maintain the right depth. Next, I masked the skateboarder out of his image, and placed him in a natural position in the bowl. To finish, I painted in light shadows and used a curves adjustment layer to adjust values of highlights on the skater, making an image with consistent lighting and full viewer immersion.
