On National Beer Day in 2019, I had the idea to make a parody beverage design mock up inspired by one of my favorite bands, Free Throw. As the drink I came up with wasn’t technically a “beer”, I held onto the idea for a later day and later introduced to the world Four Breakfast, a drink inspired by a lyric from their song “Today is Especially Delicious”.

This design was directly modeled off of the infamous malt alcoholic beverage, Four Loko. The logo features the “Loko” replaced by “Breakfast”, creating a fictional breakfast alcohol as part of the Four Loko line. Thinking about common breakfast flavors, I chose orange for the flavor, an extreme replacement for orange juice. At last, someone had created a true rival for mimosas and bellinis.
The first step of this design was creating the logo, which I made utilizing a font similar to the original Four Loko logo. After adding some details with Illustrator, I ported the design as a smart object into Photoshop, instantly wrapping it around the can mockup.
When posted to Twitter in response to a Free Throw tweet asking what songs to play on a then upcoming tour, the mockup was retweeted by the band and received notably higher analytic performance compared to other graphics.
